Extension of the Europe - West China transport corridor
The 1.7 billion euro construction of a new road link and a bridge over the Volga will halve the travel time between Moscow and Samara.
SAMARA. Almost 100 kilometres of road and a 3.75 kilometre long Volga bridge in the Samara region are to be built as part of the expansion of the international transport corridor between Europe and western China. According to current estimates, the costs of the project amount to around 1.7 billion euros. More than 900 million euros will be provided from the regional budget, the rest from investments made by the concession company founded specifically for the project.
Construction of the toll road is scheduled to begin this year and be completed by 2024. The road section, which will halve the travel time from Moscow to Samara, is part of a planned traffic route from St. Petersburg to the Kazakh border.
